During a 'Top 5 Electric Toothbrushes' feature in August 2011, a dentist professional worked with Liz, presenter for The Gadget Show, to provide his independent insights on each toothbrush's technology and efficacy. Twenty toothbrushes were tested in total. During each round, the toothbrushes that didn't make the grade in terms of features, precision and plaque removal were removed from testing. A high tech camera was also used to show how the brushing technology of the top toothbrushes worked in slow motion, comparing the oscillating/rotating toothbrushes to the sonic toothbrushes.
The Braun Oral-B Triumph 5000 with Smart Guide took the top spot, beating out the Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean. Although Suzi the presenter was enamoured by the Diamond Clean's 'sexy' design, the Triumph 5000 took first place because of the impressiveness of the Smart Guide's pressure sensor, its lower price point and overall better performance in the plaque removal test.

The Oral-B Triumph Professional Care 5000 has a pulsating, oscillating and rotating head. This provides a superior cleaning action of 40,000 pulsations and 8,800 oscillations per minute which leads to increased plaque removal and surpasses all other electrical models.
The Triumph 5000 toothbrush is compatible with a variety of Oral-B brush heads, including Precision Clean, Floss Action, Dual Action, Sensitive Clean and 3D White. The only exceptions are the Pulsonic and Sonic brush heads, which are only compatible with the Oral-B Pulsonic power toothbrush range. The new Triumph 5000 comes with three interchangeable brush heads in the pack, including Floss Action, 3D White and Sensitive Clean. All of these dentist-inspired round brush heads cup each tooth to remove up to 99.7% of plaque in hard to reach areas when used in Deep Clean mode.

The Oral-B® Triumph™ with SmartGuide is the first toothbrush to feature a wireless interactive display which monitors your brushing activity to help optimise brushing habits.
While you brush, a clock timer on the wireless display encourages you to brush for the dentist-recommended two minutes, guiding you to change mouth quadrant every 30 seconds. The SmartGuide also helps prevent gum damage by warning you if you brush too hard, and advises you when it's time to change the brush head.
