The prevention of gum disease, tooth decay and bad breath all boil down to controlling the growth of biofilm within the oral cavity. While products such as mouthwashes can be useful in tackling the bacteria containing biofilm the primary weapon is the toothbrush.
But how do you make sure you brush thoroughly when it is difficult to see translucent biofilm with the naked eye? The answer is to use a readily available, easy to use and low cost disclosing product. These come either in chewable tablet or liquid form and work by staining the ‘plaque’ with a dye in order that it can be seen and effectively targeted while brushing. As you would expect is it usually the more difficult to access areas of the mouth where the biofilm tends to accumulate and by using a disclosing product once a week it will help to ensure that you do not miss any crucial areas.
