Historically wood sticks were the very first oral hygiene device used expressly for the purpose of cleaning the interdental space i.e. between the teeth. With the development of interdental brushes the use of dental sticks declined; however with recent innovations and the introduction of new products this category has experience something of a comeback in recent years.
Wood sticks and now plastic sticks (commonly referred to as interdentals) are quick and easy to use and particularly useful where narrow contact points prevent the use of interdental brushes. As single use products dental sticks are convenient to use outside of the home and extremely cost effective.
